The Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University with its main seat in Stuttgart is with 35,000 students the largest university in the south of Germany and the third HEI which was granted the quality certification to award its own degrees in Germany. It is the first university in Europe integrating academic studies and work experience systematically institution-wide on a large scale, working with 9000 private and public organisations. It is a publicly funded state university. The nine main locations and four branch campuses with its more than 780 professors make up Germany’s first state university system.

The research group NextEductaion (www.next-eductaion.org) of Prof. Dr. Ulf-Daniel Ehlers is organising global wide research around digital transformation of education systems and processes. It has supported the university to implement an award winning digital strategy incorporating OER as a strategic aim in its innovative teaching and learning model. Apart from international and European research initiatives it is undertaking very innovative partnerships with local companies in order to realize cooperative research projects.
