UX characteristics to make the functions of the OER Repositories easy-to use
Usability, easy access, user interface, friendly experience represent important factors for success of an online service, unfortunately in some cases they are mentioned as an actual issue of OER repositories. If users will not have a satisfactory experience, the availability of OER will be of limited added value.
UX (User eXperience) is defined by “the international standard on ergonomics of human-system interaction, ISO 9241-210 as a person’s perceptions and responses that result from the use or anticipated use of a product, system or service. According to the ISO definition, user experience includes all the users’ emotions, beliefs, preferences, perceptions, physical and psychological responses, behaviors and accomplishments that occur before, during, and after use. The ISO also lists three factors that influence user experience: the system, the user, and the context of use” (en.wikipedia, 07/03/2022).
This clarifies the impact that UX has on OER repositories. It can decree their success or failure.
